WAYS TO GIVE

SUPPORT OUR WORK

Debt is devastating. Thirty percent of American families have one or more debt in collection, and millions of them are hounded by unscrupulous debt collectors who bend and break the law to secure repayment.

At NWCLC, we help families in Washington up to 500% of the poverty rate and our sliding scale, from free to about 50% of the market rate, means we support thousands of families ineligible for legal aid, who have nowhere left to turn.

%
of low-income families facing legal action related to housing, medical debt, student loans, auto fraud, and financial scams do so without an attorney.
%
of low-income households have at least one civil legal problem
%
of debt collection lawsuits involve medical bills
Washington has only 1.09 legal aid attorneys for every

Monthly Giving Program

Consumer Justice Defenders is NWCLC’s monthly giving club that supports our work to provide low or no-cost consumer financial legal support to Washington families. Defenders' contributions keep us fighting by providing legal support to fill the justice gap and work to combat systemic inequities to address its root causes.

Cy Pres Awards

We welcomes Cy Pres awards to support our work. The term Cy Pres is from the French meaning "as near as possible."

Cy Pres awards allow unclaimed settlement funds from class action suits to be distributed to nonprofit organizations that are most likely to pursue the interests of the settlement. Class counsel often has the ability to nominate charitable organizations like NWCLC to receive these funds.

Tribute Gifts

Recognize someone important in your life by giving a tribute gift. Do something extraordinary for a family member or friend by bringing justice to Washington consumers in their honor or memory.

To make a tribute gift, mail a check or money order and please include: (1) your name, address, phone number, and email; (2) name of person honored or remembered; (3) address and phone number of honoree or their family so we can notify them; and (4) any message you'd like to include.
